The North Platte High School boys’ soccer team scored a goal in each half on Saturday to open the season with a 2-0 win over Aurora at Bauer Field.

“Today was mostly about playing a game finally after only being outside twice leading up to it,” NPHS coach Danny Whitney said. “In a lot of ways, we didn’t know what to expect. But I am really happy with some of the combinations we had and some of the scoring opportunities we were able to create. I thought our midfield did a good job of being where they needed to be and the guys in the back got a shutout. We didn’t have a lot of expectations for today, we wanted to keep them out of the net and get some goals. So we were successful.”
