A North Platte man was arrested late Saturday night after he fired shots inside a house on the west side of the city.

Deputy North Platte Police Chief Kendall Allison said police went to the 2600 block of Anna St. around 10:30 p.m. to check out a reported disturbance.

Allison said when officers arrived, a female victim told them that she was one of four people who returned to the house after a night out, and she and her boyfriend, Jason Tiedje, got into an argument. Tiedje reportedly locked her out of the house.

Two more people showed up at the residence, hoping to help the victim retrieve property.

Allison said while an officer on the scene was trying to contact Tiedje at the front door, the woman went around to the rear of the house and entered to get her purse, where she was allegedly assaulted by Tiedje. Then Tiedje reportedly went into an adjacent room containing firearms.

Officers ushered everyone out but Tiedje. Seconds after they left, several gunshots were heard inside. It turned out that Tiedje fired at the exterior of the house. Tiedje came out briefly after firing the gun, but went right back inside. More law officers arrived and took positions around the perimeter of the property. After a short time, Tiedje obeyed commands to come out. He was taken into custody, according to the police report.

“This was not a long standoff,” Allison said. The house was secured, a search warrant was obtained, and firearms plus several hundred rounds of ammunition were seized.

Tiedje was charged with a series of crimes — third-degree domestic assault, five counts of terroristic threats, use of a firearm to commit a felony, unlawful/intentional discharge of a firearm at an occupied dwelling, and criminal attempt at first-degree assault.

Tiedje was taken to the Lincoln County jail, where bond was set at $500,000. The charges of terroristic threats, illegal use of a firearm, and attempted assault are felonies. Each of them carries maximum sentences of 20-50 years in prison.
