A car that rolled off the road Saturday near Sutherland turned into a ball of fire, but not before the lone occupant got out of it.

The Lincoln County sheriff’s office said the car rolled over on W. Power Road, south of Sutherland, according to a 911 call that arrived around 6:55 p.m.

The woman driving the car got out with minor injuries. Deputies were still en route to the scene when the car became fully engulfed in flames.

The car apparently drove off the gravel road and rolled into the ditch. Excessive speed is thought to have caused the wreck, the sheriff said.

Hershey volunteer firefighters kept the fire from spreading to the surrounding area, the sheriff said.
