Richard Wayne Fourtner, 81, of North Platte, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1942 in Pasadena, Texas the son of Benton Wayne and Doris Irlene (Gilmore) Fourtner. Richard worked as a professional meat cutter for most of his career. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener.
He married Loretta (Jeannie) Fourtner in 2007. Richard loved spending time with his family and friends, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted sister, Jan Babb of IA; children, Sherri Higgins of South Dakota, Danny Fourtner (significant other, Dezra Dyer) of North Platte, Daren Fourtner of Texas, Dana Fourtner of Texas, Brian (Rachelle) Fourtner of Sutherland and Brenda Fourtner of Maxwell; grandchildren, Jasmine, Ariel, Dakota, Danyelle, Shane, Alexander, Cheyenne, Kaleb, Kodie, Kolbey, Chelsey, Zachary, Faith, Heather, Jewel, Erich, Blaze, Dillon, Jake, Logan, Molly, Jolee, BayLee, and Rieley; 27 great grandchildren; nieces, Kristine (Dan) Duffy and Cindi Babb; step-children, Thomas (Susan) Lammers of Tilden, Theresa Kramer of North Platte, and Todd (Shanna) Lammers of Elgin; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and wife Jeannie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at North Platte Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, May 19th from 1-7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
