Rib & Chop House, a steakhouse that is known for sizzling comfort food and Louisiana-inspired flavors, has signed a lease to locate in North Platte.

The 6,000-plus square-foot restaurant will stand at the forefront of the District 177 mall at 1000 S. Dewey, in a new building just off Dewey, in the general area where Nebraskaland Tires is now located. The tire shop is slated for demolition.

Plans are to open Rib & Chop House in the fourth quarter of next year, company spokesman Joshua Levitt said in a news release.

The District 177 mall is steadily taking shape in an extensive, two-year renovation and expansion. The official ground-breaking was a year ago. The development is anchored by Ashley Furniture, Dunham’s Sports, Golden Ticket Theatre and more.

Dunham’s Sports is expected to open in November, a company official told the Bulletin, with a new, direct entrance into the store from the parking lot.

Levitt said the Rib & Chop House will offer 185 seats, including a 500 sq. ft. outdoor patio with 40 seats.

Rib & Chop House was founded in 2001, specializing in steaks, fresh seafood and baby back ribs.

The company currently has 12 restaurants in the northwestern U.S., mostly in Montana and Wyoming. A Rib and Chop House is expected to open soon in Great Falls, Idaho, the second one in that state. The company also has a restaurant in Colorado and one in Utah. This will be their first in Nebraska.

Rib & Chop House incorporates a casual attitude with high-level commitment to loyalty, safety, service, and quality food, according to their website.

“We take pride in bringing our great restaurant to exceptional small towns,” the website says.
