If you receive something in the mail that encourages you to have your water tested this spring, it’s okay to be skeptical.

City and county water customers do not automatically need to have their water tested, North Platte Water Department Supt. Ervin Kramer said Monday. The city water department conducts extensive testing throughout the year to ensure the water is high quality and safe to drink.

If a county resident has concerns about water quality, they can get bottles to take samples from the state health department at B and Silber (308-535-8135), or the county extension office at 348 W. State Farm Road (308-532-2683.)

Seasonal changes do not typically cause water quality issues in the area, Kramer said.
