A prescription drug collection will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15 at the District 177 Mall in North Platte.

Use the northwest entrance please. No sharps (needles, etc.) will be accepted.

Unused prescription pills can be turned in at no charge and will be safely disposed. Prescription medicine for pets will be accepted too.

The collection is organized by Community Connections’ Substance Abuse Prevention program.

It would be best to turn in the medicines in the original containers, so the pharmacist/medical rep can distinguish if it’s a controlled or non-controlled substance, said Traci Sawyer of Community Connections.

Sawyer said containers will be disposed as well. If the owner wants to blacken or remove the label that would be fine, or the volunteers will do that.

If you have questions, please call 308-696-3358.
