Police arrested four North Platte men Friday in the northwest part of the city and charged them with illegal possession of firearms.

Deputy North Platte Police Chief Kendall Allison said around 8 a.m., police received credible information that Andrew Roepke, a convicted felon, was in possession of firearms. They executed a search warrant at Roepke’s residence in the 2800 block of W. 19th. They found several prohibited weapons there.

The weapons reportedly belonged to Andrew, 26, his brother Nathaniel, 40, and their father, Vernon Roeple, 64.

All three men are convicted felons.

Several prohibited edged weapons, such as knives, were seized, as well as firearms. Andrew and Vernon were both charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, a class ID felony punishable by 3-50 years in prison if convicted. The suspects were taken to the Lincoln County jail. Each suspect was held on a $35,000 bond.

Nathaniel Roepke, 40, was not present when the search warrant was served. He was contacted the next day and charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, a Class III felony, punishable by four years in prison, and likewise placed in the Lincoln County jail.

Allison said police believe Jonathan Jones, a convicted felon, was also associated with the case and had possession of firearms. Jones, 36, was not present at the time the warrant was served, but he was apprehended later that day. He was also charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, a class ID felony, and placed in the Lincoln County jail.

On Wednesday, April 1, a school resource officer responded to a camper in the 2300 block of W. Fifth to investigate a report of child neglect.

Allison said the officer found evidence of child neglect and obtained a warrant to search Callihan’s camper and vehicle on April 2. Police found several homemade explosive devices and controlled substances.

Callihan, 50, was charged with two counts of child abuse, possession of a controlled substance, possession of weapons by a prohibited person and possession of explosive materials.

Callihan was taken to the Lincoln County jail, where he is held on a $100,000 bond.

Around 9 p.m. on March 31, an officer saw a vehicle operated by Savanna Gallegos near the 700 block of E. 4th. Gallegos was wanted by the Nebraska State Patrol for possession of 28-139 grams of meth with intent to deliver.

Gallegos, 39, allegedly distributed meth at 3:45 a.m. on Jan. 19 near 119 Canal St. in Hershey, according to court records.

The charge is a class IC felony, punishable by 5-50 years in prison. Gallegos was taken to jail, where bond was set at $250,000.

Around midnight on March 31, a police officer saw Makenzie Royle in the 700 block of N. Jeffers and knew that Royle was wanted for driving under suspension.

She was contacted and arrested. Before Royle, 27, was taken to jail, an officer searched her personal effects and found drug paraphernalia that were tested later and showed the presence of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

In addition to the arrest on the warrant, Royle was charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was taken to the Lincoln County jail.
