In separate incidents on Saturday and Monday, two people were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Most recently, at 3:25 p.m. Monday, police and fire fighters went to 10th and Jeffers in response to an injury accident involving a pedestrian, police spokesman Matt Elder said.

Upon arrival, police learned a pedestrian was hit by a car and left the area, but he was found nearby.  Investigators determined that a 2015 red Ford sedan driven by Dawn Mockaitis was traveling north on Jeffers when Ronald Ware, 31, tried to cross the street on a motorized bicycle.

Ware was eastbound. Mockaitis’ car collided with Ware in the intersection, the police report said.

Ware was transported to Great Plains Health with serious injuries.

Jump from overpass

At 12:29 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, police and emergency responders went to the Poplar St. overpass in response to a report that someone jumped off the overpass.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim, who was conscious at this time.  After speaking with the victim and witnesses, it was determined that the subject got out of a vehicle and jumped off the overpass.

The victim was transported to Great Plains Health with serious injuries, Elder said.
