A North Platte man allegedly stole a bicycle, but police found it almost as soon as they learned it was missing.

At 1 p.m. on Friday, May 29, a North Platte police officer went to the 400 block of E. Sixth to check out a reported bicycle theft.

Deputy North Platte Police Chief Kendall Allison said while the officer was taking the theft report, another officer saw Zachary Vigneur riding the stolen bicycle in the 1300 block of N. Jeffers.

Vigneur, 33, was charged with misdemeanor theft, second offense, and taken to the Lincoln County jail. Bond was set at $5,000.

Kleckner

Police also recently arrested Leland Kleckner of North Platte, who was previously charged with a third-degree assault that occurred on June 13, 2025. He was sentenced to six months of probation, starting Dec. 18.

Kleckner, 54, violated probation by missing several appointments for drug tests and at times, testing positive for alcohol consumption, probation officers said.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Thursday, May 28.

Around 3 p.m. the next day, police contacted Kleckner in the 3400 block of S. Newberry, arrested him without further trouble, and took him to the Lincoln County jail. He is held without bond.
