The North Platte police made 399 traffic contacts during a special traffic enforcement during the Christmas and New Year holidays from Dec. 12-Jan. 1. Here are the results.
Deputy Police Chief Kendall Allison said eight people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Also:
- Twenty-four fugitive warrants were served.
- Four juveniles were cited for minor in possession of alcohol.
- Three felony drug arrests were made during the grant period, which included the seizure of 20 grams of marijuana and two ounces of meth.
Also, 107 citations were issued for such violations as:
- Driving Under Suspension and No Operator’s License – 14
- Traffic Signal violations – 17.
- Failure to Signal and Illegal Turn violations – 7.
- Speeding violations – 10.
- Registration and Insurance violations – 71.
- Careless Driving and Exhibition of Speed – 4.
Allison said of the approximately 1,400 calls for service during the time period, police responded to 32 reported accidents. Two accidents involved minor injuries and two possibly involved injuries.
The enforcement effort was made possible by a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
