The North Platte police responded to 762 calls for service during the core 10 days of Nebraskaland Days celebration, June 17–27.

Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson said Tuesday that during that period, police made these arrests:

• 14 – Minor in possession.
• 7 – DUI
• 12 felony arrests
• 42 misdemeanor arrests.

At the Wild West Arena, officers handled 39 calls for service. They arrested 10 minors for possession, and charged a McCook man with assault

Partnering with the Nebraska Department of Transportation, police increased their presence at events where alcohol was served, scanning IDs to help prevent the use of fake IDs. They seized several fraudulent IDs that were used in attempted alcohol purchases.

Assault at Wild West Arena

Johnson said officers working security at the Wild West Arena responded to a reported disturbance at about 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.

According to the on-scene investigation, a man was involved in an altercation in the crowd. A female was hit in the face with a beer bottle and another man was punched in the face. Officers documented visible injuries to the woman, including swelling, facial redness, and a bleeding laceration on the lower lip.

Based on witness statements and officer observations, Drake Brunswick, 24, of McCook was arrested on suspicion of second-degree and third-degree assaults and taken to the Lincoln County jail, Johnson said.

“The North Platte Police Department appreciates the cooperation of event organizers, businesses, and community members who helped make Nebraskaland Days a safe and successful celebration,” Johnson said. “Our officers remain committed to proactive enforcement while supporting the community events that bring people together.”
