Phillip “Phil” Sam Wright, 63, of North Platte passed away Monday, March 23, 2026 at Great Plains Health.

Phil was born on Jan. 24, 1963 in Santa Cruz, Calif. to Phillip and Suzanne (Huff) Wright. There he spent his childhood, attending Bay View Elementary and Santa Cruz High School. After school, Phil spent a few years finding his path before moving to Colorado and entering the workforce as a business manager. He took great pride in his work and showed great promise. Unfortunately, tragedy struck in the form of a massive stroke when he was only 32 years old.

Though forever changed, Phil stayed brave and led a courageous life of recovery. His family will always consider him their hero.

Phil’s memory will always be one of smiles and positivity. His outgoing nature allows him to live on through all those that were lucky enough to experience his friendliness, contagious sense of humor, and caring heart. He was a lover of animals, especially his parrots he had throughout the years.

Rock and roll was his music of choice although he loved classical and spiritual music too; it filled many of his days. His constant companions, however, were his daily, bottomless coffee and his dog, Bella.

Those left to cherish Phil’s memory are his dad, Phil (Gail) Wright; mom, Suzanne Johnson; sister, Katy (Dennis) Henderson; nephews, Brandon (Jen), Zachary (Missy), and Ryan (Erin) Lundeen; five great-nephews; a great-niece; and many more family and friends whose lives he touched.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Phillip and Alberta Wright, Peggy West, and Bill Huff.

The family would like to express heart felt gratitude to the many staff members at Great Plains Health, who so compassionately cared for Phil in his last hours.

Cremation has been chosen with Carpenter Memorial Chapel assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pawsitive Partners. Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared at carpentermemorial.com.
