Legion family members and first responders will gather from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 at American Legion Post #163 in North Platte for an evening of food, fellowship and appreciation on Patriot Day.

All American Legion, Legion Riders, Sons of The American Legion and Auxiliary members and their families are invited, along with all first responders and their families.

Dinner will include pulled pork, baked potatoes and macaroni and cheese, with food served in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. The American Legion Post is at 2020 E. Fourth St. in North Platte.

While the Legion Post’s monthly socials are traditionally donation-driven, no donations will be accepted at the Sept. 11 event. Instead, the evening is being offered as a sincere gesture of appreciation to first responders and their families.

The September Social also provides an opportunity to pause and remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001, and honor the courage, sacrifice and service demonstrated by first responders then and every day since, organizers said in the announcement.
