The first snow of the season fell overnight Tuesday in North Platte, but most of it melted during the night.
From 1-3 inches was in the forecast but it failed to materialize in the city, although some parts of Lincoln County had some accumulations.
Light rain changed to snow off and on during the night, as the temperature hovered in the mid-30s, the National Weather Service in North Platte said. The weather service recorded 0.90 inch of rain from Tuesday through Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will be chilly and mostly cloudy, with a high near 42 and northerly winds gusting at times up to 25 mph.
On Wednesday night the temperature will dip to around 25, bringing the first had freeze of the season. The wind is expected to lessen to 5-10 mph.
A chance of rain is in the forecast Thursday night and Friday, as well as Saturday night, the weather service says.
