The Pocket Pounders of Ogallala captured the championship of the Sandhills BCA Pool League on Aug. 1 and will represent the league in Las Vegas in March.
The Sandhills BCA Pool League began last fall with five teams from the Ogallala and Paxton area, one team from Sidney, and in the spring, six teams from North Platte joined.
The amateur league features a ball-in-hand, call-pocket format and was established in the fall for players of all skill levels, organizer Kara Brown said.
Each team consists of 5-8 players and competes using the internationally recognized FargoRate handicap system, which allows beginners and experienced players alike to compete on an even field.
On Aug. 1, the 12 Sandhills BCA teams came together for the league’s playoff tournament to determine the team that would earn the opportunity to compete in Las Vegas in February.
