With Nebraskaland Days just around the corner, the community rallied to spruce up the north side.

Aaron Edwards, a City Council Ward 4 candidate, coordinated the cleanup. Many community businesses helped. Rooster Roll-offs provided dumpsters. The Glass Doctor allowed the use of their property. The Garden Glove brought equipment and supplies. Subway donated lunches to participants.

Keep North Platte & Lincoln County Beautiful helped provide expertise and organization.

Edwards said there are discussions about making the north side cleanup an annual event. He intends to organize a spring cleanup next year, with the support of the community.

The cleanup focused on Rodeo Road and Buffalo Bill, the main road to the Wild West arena, where the Buffalo Bill Rodeo, the concert series and kids fun day are held. About 20 people dedicated time and effort to the cause. Edwards expressed gratitude to those who participated and helped spread the word.

“We wanted to plant a seed,” he said. “If you do little things, eventually, they become big things.”
