Two North Platte women were recently charged with felony theft and meth possession in separate incidents.

Jamie Perez, 41, was arrested March 2 in a case that began four months earlier.

On Oct. 31, police began investigating a case of internal theft from a liquor store business at 201 S. Jeffers in North Platte. During the month of September, Perez allegedly stole $4,500 worth of cash and merchandise from the store.

According to a police affidavit filed with the court, investigators watched hours of security video, reviewed inventory, checked store and bank records, talked to employees, and determined that Perez likely stole money from the store by accepting payments from customers and then deleting the record of the transactions. Also, she allegedly took cash from the register during the month, police said.

A warrant was issued for Perez on Feb. 28, and she was arrested in the 300 block of S. Bailey on March 2. She was placed in the Lincoln County jail. Bond was set at $10,000.

Hawley

At 2 p.m. on Feb. 27, police stopped a vehicle at the intersection of 11th and Jeffers on suspicion that the driver’s license was suspended.

An officer saw a partial marijuana joint in the car, leading to a search of the vehicle. Police said they found a box containing two syringes with meth in them, in the possession of the passenger, Misty Hawley, 41.

Hawley told police that the box did not belong to her, that she ended up with it after she did some laundry for another woman. Police said her information was not credible.

Hawley was charged with possession of a controlled substance and placed in the Lincoln County jail, where bond was set at $15,000.
