Brian Titman of North Platte has been sentenced to 235 months’ imprisonment on a federal charge of meth possession with intent to distribute, Acting U.S. Attorney Matthew R. Molsen announced Friday. There is no parole in the federal system.
Also, Titman was sentenced to another 15 months in prison on a separate case. He was on supervised release when he was caught distributing meth. The 15-month sentence will begin after the 235-month sentence, Molsen said.
U.S. District Judge Susan M. Bazis issued the sentences in federal court in Lincoln.
After Titman’s release from prison, he will begin a 10-year term of supervised release.
Titman, 46, was previously sentenced in January 2017 to 60 months (five years) in the Bureau of Prisons for distributing 50 grams or more of meth mixture. At the conclusion of his custodial sentence in that case, Titman was sentenced to a term of supervised release, which he violated.
Molsen said a warrant was issued for his arrest in March 2023, and over the next year, he and law enforcement in west-central Nebraska played a game of cat and mouse, with Titman taking steps to conceal his identity and law enforcement working to arrest him.
On at least two occasions, Titman fled officers at high speeds. Police eventually terminated the pursuits because of risks to the public, Molsen said.
On March 15, 2024, the Furnas County sheriff’s office requested assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol in locating Titman’s vehicle. A state trooper tried to pull Titman over on U.S. Highway 283 near Elwood., but Titman took off, speeding away on county roads with two passengers.
During a 30-minute pursuit, the occupants of Titman’s car threw out multiple baggies of meth, as well as personal belongings including phones and ammunition. The recovered items included a Walmart bag containing 9mm ammunition and multiple baggies containing a total of 6.3 ounces of meth. More meth was found in the vehicle.
The vehicle eventually became high-centered in a pasture in Lincoln County and the three occupants ran into a nearby tree line. Officers searched the area in the darkness. After about three hours, a thermal drone located the suspects. Officers were able to call the occupants out and take them into custody, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.
The following day, the owner of the pasture property called the law and turned over about 11.5 ounces of meth, Narcan, and several personal items. The landowner found the items in the pasture and along the access road. The meth was packaged in the same way as the meth that was previously found. Officers searched the field again and found more meth. In all, more 600 grams of meth or about 1.3 pounds were located, Molsen said.
The case was investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol and the CODE (Cooperating Drug Enforcement) task force of law officers from all agencies, including deputies from Gosper County, Dawson County, and Lincoln County.
David Griffitt, 37, of Trenton, and Madison Arledge, 26, (a female) of McCook were with Titman and were also arrested.
