The 2019 Class B state champion North Platte High School Bulldogs boys’ golf team was honored Monday night by the North Platte school board.

Each of the golfers briefly talked about the season and received certificates of achievement as well as hearty congratulations from the top administrators and board members.

The team won the conference, district and state titles, earning the “triple crown,” golfer Tanner Ruda said.

“The whole season was a highlight,” Ruda told the board.

The team has been shooting for the state title for 4-5 years, Coach Matt Kaminski said, crediting players in previous years for their leadership.

Kaminski said teammates encouraged one another to work year around on fundamentals and techniques, to stay mentally sharp and rebound quickly from discouragement.

Superintendent Ron Hanson said the team is a model for other teams at the high school, showing their hard work and commitment.

Coach Jim Orcutt, who retired after the season, thanked the administration, High School Activities Director Marc Mroczek and the parents for their support.
