Seventy-four nonprofit causes are participating in North Platte Giving Day set for Wednesday, May 7.
“North Platte Giving Day is the best time to help favorite community causes.” said Eric Seacrest, executive director of Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, which is hosting Giving Day for 10th year.
Donors choose which local nonprofits to support and how much to give.
A total of more than $100,000 in matching gifts have been pledged to several nonprofits that will be earned when donors make gifts to those nonprofits. Fifty-five sponsored cash prizes to nonprofits make donations go further.
Sponsored cash prizes will be given to nonprofits based on donations made online or by check during various time periods. Cash prizes to nonprofits range from $200 to $1,000.
One hundred percent of each Giving Day donation goes to donor-selected nonprofits. The Community Foundation is covering all donation processing costs.
Early Giving is now open. Early Giving donations can win cash prizes for nonprofits as well as help earn pledged matching funds for nonprofits.
Go to NorthPlatteGiving.org for information about participating nonprofits, sponsored cash prizes, pledged matching fund and to donate online.
Donors can get printed donation forms and can drop off checks at local Giving Sites. Giving Sites include Prairie Arts Centers, Orr’s Cleaners & Draperies, Catholic School Endowment, Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation and U-Save Pharmacy which is open until 8pm weekdays.
Donors can mail checks to Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, PO Box 1321, North Platte NE 69103.
Giving Day donations can be tax deductible as charitable contributions for taxpayers who itemize deductions.
Participating nonprofits serve people in Lincoln County and many serve the entire region around North Platte. Many nonprofits depend almost entirely on donations and volunteer workers. There is no charge for nonprofits to participate in North Platte Giving Day.
An online leaderboard provides updates on donation totals for nonprofits including sponsored prize amounts won and pledged matching funds earned. A list of 55 sponsored cash prizes is shown on the website and updated when prizes are awarded.
