Norma Jean Suits Martin, 89, passed away March 27, 2026.
She was born August 15, 1936, to Richard M. Suits and Bertha Marie McGuire Suits at North Platte NE. Norma graduated North Platte High School and later attended Central Business College in Denver, Colorado. She was united in marriage October 2, 1955, to Robert D Martin in North Platte. The couple made their home on a farm south of Maxwell by Ft McPherson cemetery raising corn, cattle, and hogs.
She was a member of Hill and Valley Extension Club in Maxwell, NE. She helped her husband farm until 1985 when she went to work for Nebraska Association of Farmworkers and retired in 2010.
She loved cross stitching, quilting, and making ceramics. She also enjoyed playing cards and jokers wild marble game. Norma adored watching her children and grandchildren in all sports; never missing a game of her children as they grew up and attended college.
Norma is survived by sons, Mark Martin, Maxwell and Dann Martin (Kathy) of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Lindsay Martin, San Diego, Ben Martin (Arlyn), San Diego, Derek Williams (Morgan), Eustis, Darin Williams (Melissa), Omaha, Colten, Jordan, Mason and Caden Martin, Arlington TX; seven great grand babies; nieces, nephews, and many other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Julie Martin Williams; mother and father-in-law; husband; daughter and infant son, Randy Martin (7/31/1961).
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery, Maxwell. Visitation will be on Friday, April 10 from noon-5 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is assisting the family with arrangements.
