During an “Excellence in Tourism” luncheon scheduled for May 6, Visit North Platte will present five awards for excellence in customer service. Nominations are now open.
Awards will be presented for service at a hotel, in a restaurant, in a retail establishment, at an event, and at an attraction. In addition to those, awards will be presented for volunteer of the year and the hero of tourism.
Each year, nearly 600,000 visitors will stop in North Platte. Events and attractions are one of the reasons, but the most important factor in visitors feeling welcome and having a positive experience is excellent service, the visitors’ bureau says.
Employees or volunteers in Lincoln County at any of the above locations who go above and beyond expectations can be nominated. Anyone who has experienced an employee exhibiting exceptional customer service skills is encouraged to submit a nomination.
Self-nominations and anonymous nominations will be accepted.
Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on March 18.
Visitors in Lincoln County spend more than $121 million and generate over $10 million in state and local taxes, and support approximately 1,530 jobs with a payroll of just under $35 million. Hotels, restaurants, retail, attractions, and events greet visitors with warmth, hospitality, and professionalism throughout the year, the visitors’ bureau said.
