Both the Nevada and Minnesota legislatures have advanced a two-person crew requirement on freight trains.

On Wednesday, the Nevada State Senate passed the two-person crew requirement, and the bill previously passed the State Assembly on April 23, the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation union.

The bill will need to be signed by the officers of both Nevada houses before being sent to Gov. Steve Sisolak for his signature.

And on April 29, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed a minimum train crew requirement as an amendment to a transportation omnibus bill on a 74-52 vote.

The omnibus bill is in a conference committee with the Minnesota Senate transportation committee.
