On Saturday night, Aug. 17, the North Platte Bulletin will host the outdoor Music on the Bricks downtown for the third consecutive year.
This is an annual all-local end-of-summer bash, showcasing the talent and ability of area performers, with food, refreshments and kids’ games, courtesy of sponsors and friends.
It will start at 6 p.m. and last until midnight.
The musical lineup Saturday includes Blue Swing, Kim Baxter, Top Shelf Country, WonderCult, the Jack Bunger Band, and Big Dan and the Jellystingers, so there will be a variety of folk, rhythm, country, rock and blues — both acoustic and electric.
We’ll have room to dance, plus kids’ games, face painting, food and craft vendors, beer, refreshments and some shopping too. Admission is just $5.
The weekend of music begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday night, Aug. 16 in the Espresso Shop featuring Blue Swing, plus Kim Baxter, his daughter Mikaela with Fred Schlickbernd of the Crazy Louie band on percussion.
We suggest you arrive early Friday or purchase advance tickets at the Espresso Shop. Five dollars is requested at the door.
The downtown is steadily looking better, with historic signs, new awnings and windows on several stores, and two bustling new businesses, as renovations continue.
Please join us in the original core of the community for an evening for family fun, thanks to these sponsors — Kwik Stop, Allo, First State Bank and the American Agency, Nebraskaland National Bank, Home Instead, the Lincoln County/North Platte Visitor’s Bureau, Original Town, Great Western Bank, the Espresso Shop, Western Nebraska Bank, Noon Rotary and the Do-It Center, in cooperation with the Downtown Association.
