Aaron McCoy has been named as the new North Platte Public Schools activities director.

McCoy is currently the principal at Bertrand. Before McCoy went to Bertrand at the beginning of the school year, he was at Overton. In Overton, he served as activities director and the head coach of the track and field team, among other duties.

In addition to track, McCoy has also coached football, basketball and wrestling.

McCoy is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Kearney. His bachelor’s degree came in Social Sciences. McCoy also has a masters degree in the area of school administration.

He will replace the current athletic director, Brett Joneson, in the next school year. Joneson stepped into the position in September following the unforeseen resignation of Jimmie Rhodes. Joneson is said to be considering retirement.
