A new cell phone policy at McCook Public Schools will be discussed at the Monday, May 13 meeting of the McCook school board.

The objective is to boost student engagement and academic performance. A parent survey earlier this spring indicated overwhelming support for the policy change.

Also, potential changes to Title IX regulations will be discussed. Recently, the Biden Administration released new Title XI regulations that would significantly overhaul the existing Title XI regulations.

Given the uncertainty of a court challenge and the fact that the upcoming presidential election could nullify any temporarily enjoined rules, school attorneys will be monitoring the progress of these regulations.

The McCook Public School Board meets the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m.
