Max Arthur Beyersdorf III, 89, passed away on March 25, 2025 in Tucson, Ariz.

He was born on Sept. 13, 1935 in Grand Island to Max and Sadie Beyersdorf.

Max began his life of service by enlisting in the United States Navy on Aug. 10, 1953. During his time in the Navy, he completed electronics training at ET School Class A and attended the GTC for Petty Officers Course for Seaman in San Francisco, Calif. His final assignment was with COMSERVPAC SERVADMIN before receiving an honorable discharge from the reserves in August 1961.

Following his military service, Max pursued higher education at the University of Iowa, where he earned a degree in physical therapy in 1960. Though offered a trainer position with the Boston Red Sox, Max chose to focus on advancing the field of physical therapy. He played a significant role in establishing private practice offices in Denver, Colo.

Later, Max opened his own practice in North Platte. There he expanded access to specialized care by bringing professionals such as speech therapists to the area. His dedication to improving patient care was recognized when he received the M.E. Sacksteder Award in 1986 for outstanding contributions to the advancement of physical therapy.

In 1977, Max experienced a spiritual transformation and dedicated his life to Jesus Christ. His faith became a guiding force in his life as he shared the gospel through both small gestures—such as pens he crafted himself—and larger missions that took him as far as Cambodia. It was in North Platte that Max met Barbara, who would become his beloved wife. They were married on Oct. 30, 1976, blending their families and sharing a mutual love for family, faith, and travel.

For the past thirty years, Max made his home in Tucson. Those who knew him will remember his unwavering commitment to service – both to his country and to the well-being of others through his professional and spiritual endeavors.

Max is survived by his wife, Barbara; brother, Ralph (Bobbie) Beyersdorf of Loveland, Colo.; daughter, Vickie Meyer of Houston, Texas; children, Karen (Tom) Blake of Belleair, Fla., Ken (Marcie) Beyersdorf of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kirk (Kim) Beyersdorf of Conroe, Texas, Jeffrey (Brittany) Greenwood of North Fort Meyers, Fla.; stepdaughter, Jude Kinsinger of North Platte; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Sadie; brother, Arnold and wife Doris; stepson, Ken; and stepdaughter, Karla.
