Margaret “Jean” Fisher, age 83, of North Platte, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at Linden Court.

Jean was born on May 26, 1942, in North Platte, Nebraska, to William and Irene (Wells) Tilford. She grew up in the Platte Valley area, attending Platte Valley Grade School and later graduating from Hershey High School in 1961.

After high school, she attended the School of Commerce in North Platte, where she went on to work as a nursing assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital for two years. Jean married the love of her life Rodney Bradford Fisher at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte on June 9, 1961, and together they raised three daughters. After spending some time in California, she returned to the area, taking a position as a physical therapy assistant at Bethesda Care Center in Sutherland.

A woman of simple pleasures, Jean found joy in the little things – watching her grandchildren participate in sports, savoring moments spent with family, and enjoying an ice cream while driving through Cody Park with her husband. She was a passionate reader, a skilled baker, and loved playing cards with friends and family. Jean also had a competitive streak, often sharing laughs with her sister while placing bets on sports events.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Irene Tilford; her brothers, Jim Tilford and John Tilford; and her sisters, Joan Simants and Willa White.

Jean is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Rodney Fisher, of North Platte; three daughters, Angela (John) Young of North Platte, Lori (Bill) Hughes of Andover, Minn., and Kelly (Tim) Scribner of Minatare; six grandchildren, Matthew, Marla, Brooke, Jon, Maggie, and Erin; two great-grandchildren, Mia and EmJae; her brother, Bill (Stephanie) Tilford of Sutherland; her sister, Carol (Jim) Frame of Hershey; and many other loving family members and friends.

Burial will be at Floral Lawns Cemetery following the service.  Visitations is Monday July 7, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Condolences may be shared online at odeancolonialchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel.
