Lynn Wood was born Feb. 15, 1954 at McCook. He passed away at home in North Platte on Feb. 21 at age 71.

Lynn, son of Marion and Leora Wood, grew up on a farm west of Maywood. He graduated from Maywood High School in 1972 then worked at a bakery in Cozad and later for Monroes.

He later went to Colorado where he drove a cement truck then returned home and worked out of Stratton for Miller Manufacturing and later for the Frontier County Road Department. Lynn also trapped for the airport for over 30 years.

He was a hard worker and was always willing to help others.

On June 12, 1975, Lynn married Shirley Burson in Oberlin, Kan. They lived in Maywood, Hayes Center and eventually settling in North Platte. When not working, Lynn enjoyed gardening.

He was a kind, generous person who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Lori Nelsen and baby Frances; and a special great-nephew, Bryce Wood.

Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Gregory (Jeni) Wood of Lincoln and Jessica (William) Bishop of Post Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, James Breedlove, Andrew Wood and Aubrey Bishop; brothers, Donald (Claudia) of Texas and Kenneth (Coleen), Jim, and Chris (Christine), all of North Platte; his beloved cat, Miss Molly; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22 at Odean Colonial Chapel. Casual dress is preferred.
