Lynn C. Beebe of Omaha passed away Feb. 20, 2026 at age 73.
Lynn was born in Omaha on Dec. 10, 1952, the first of two children born to Ward and Marie (Gentleman) Beebe. In 1966, the family moved to North Platte, where he graduated from North Platte High School with the Class of 1971. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, earning a degree in history, and was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, forming friendships that would last a lifetime.
Following graduation, Lynn began his career with the Union Pacific Railroad in Laramie, Wyo. He was transferred to Spring, Texas, then to Omaha where he dedicated many years of service to Union Pacific’s Safety Department until retiring.
While living in Wyoming, Lynn met the love of his life, Lynne Ellen Lungren. The couple married on Nov. 7, 1981, beginning a devoted partnership that remained the cornerstone of his life.
Lynn was an avid reader and had a passion for military and law enforcement history. He originated the idea of honoring fallen UP railroad police officers, a task he carried into retirement. Through his efforts, nearly one hundred fallen officers have been memorialized at the Union Pacific Museum and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. His dedication ensured that their service and sacrifice would not be forgotten.
As a devoted genealogist, Lynn made more than five thousand contributions to a national grave research website and spent hundreds of hours helping friends uncover and preserve their family histories. He believed deeply in honoring the past and preserving stories for future generations.
Lynn was a lifelong supporter of Nebraska athletics. He was an enthusiastic fan of University of Nebraska Cornhusker football and a dedicated supporter of the University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey team, attending nearly every home game since the program’s inception in 1997.
Travel brought Lynn great joy. For more than 40 years, he shared annual spring trips to Las Vegas with his brother and sister-in-law. He cherished frequent visits to Colorado and Wyoming to spend time with his late wife’s family and made numerous annual trips with a group of travel friends.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lynne Ellen; and his parents-in-law.
He is survived by his brother, Brian (Sue) Beebe; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Brian) Blane and Kristy (Bert) Agee; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss his constant smile and hilarious one-liners.
