State troopers arrested a Louisiana man Sunday night after a 30-minute pursuit in southern Nebraska.

Nebraska State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas said NSP was notified around 9 p.m. that a Ram pickup had run from an attempted traffic stop by the Dawson County sheriff’s office. About 10 minutes later, a trooper found the vehicle traveling south on Road 426, which is south of the I-80 Darr interchange.

The trooper tried to pull over and the driver initially stopped, but then sped up and headed south again. The vehicle traveled on county roads and later turned south on U.S. Highway 283.

Thomas said before he reached U.S. Highway 6, the driver entered a residential driveway and ran away on foot. He was quickly apprehended by the trooper and a Gosper County deputy.

The driver, identified as Gustavo Diaz Rodriquez, 39, of Morgan City, La. was charged with flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the Dawson County jail.

The entire pursuit lasted about 30 minutes, Thomas said.
