Lora Jane Bevington, 77, of North Platte, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at North Platte Care Center.

She was born on April 24, 1946 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Loyd R. and Jane A. (Prichett) Bevington.

Lora graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa and attended college in Youngstown, Ohio. She became a cytotechnologist lab pathologist and worked for many years in North Platte. She was a great animal lover, especially her dear rescue greyhounds, and other rescue dog breeds from local shelters. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved pet dogs, Mitzi, Rusty aka “Mooie”, Dasie D. Dog, Morgan Fairpuppy, Shylo, Jack, Shocker, Sparks, MaGoo, Nikki, Morgan, Cassie, Buddy, Taz, Talia, Big Red Ted, and Rock.

She is survived by her brother, Kent (Bobbie) Bevington of Missoula, Mont.; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Alicia Tschetter Brittenham, Kira Kautz, Karan Erickson, and Robin Fisher; and many other dear friends.

She was preceded by her parents, Loyd and Jane; and by a brother, Gary.

A celebration of Lora’s life was held on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Rock Memorial Animal Medical Fund at Westfield Small Animal Clinic for vet care and expenses.
