A reception for Kearney artist Joseph McHale will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at the Prairie Arts Center in North Platte.

McHale’s works will be on display at the center through November in the Erickson Gallery. The show is called “Awake O Sleeper.” The works include paintings and drawings, which although varied in theme, they all depend on light. This show explores the power of art to “awaken” and to point souls toward the source of all true light, organizers say.

Light snacks and refreshments will be served at the artist’s reception.

Also, a separate show, Alpha and Omega, is opening in the Impact Gallery — a display for memorabilia and ships depicting World War II from beginning to end.
