Police and sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for help Monday morning at a residence near the St. Pat’s Irish practice field. The field is just east of McDaid Elementary School.
Police said a complaint of domestic assault came around 11:15 a.m. in the 500 block of S. Bryan. The woman was out of the house but the man remained inside. At first, he refused to come out and was suspected of possessing a rifle. Four police cars and three sheriff’s vehicles responded.
Before long, the man came out of the house, North Platte Police Chief Steve Reeves said.
The doors of the Catholic schools were secured as a precaution. School students and teachers continued about their day, but no one was allowed to enter or leave the building. The “secure building” action lasted about 15 minutes, spokeswoman Gwen Covey said.

Both persons — Braden Clark and Mia Mendoza — told police that they were physically attacked by the other. They both had minor injuries. They were taken to jail, charged with second-degree domestic assault.
Clark is also charged with terroristic threats and strangulation. Mendoza is also charged with use of weapon to commit a felony.
