Laurine Thompson, 99, of North Platte passed from this life into the arms of Jesus whom she loved on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019 under hospice care.

Laurine was born Oct. 22, 1919 in Arnold to Ralph and Lilace Williams. Laurine was the 12th of 13 children. Her mother passed away when she was seven years old. Her father remarried after three years. Ralph lived in Muskegon, Mich. at that time and the three younger girls went to live with him and their stepmother for four years and then they returned to Nebraska.

For high school, Laurine went to live with an older brother and his wife in Colorado where she attended school through the 10th grade. She then began doing house cleaning for a farm family near Brush, Colo. for a few years before returning to North Platte.

On Sept. 14, 1940, Laurine married John Thompson of North Platte. They were blessed with five children, Larry, Sandra, Carl, Steven, and Robert, and enjoyed 65 wonderful years together before Johnny passed away in December 2005.

Laurine and Johnny owned and operated Johnnies Custom Pack in North Platte for many years and were well known in the community.

Laurine was a member of the North Platte Berean Church since 1944. She served many years and into her 80’s in the nursery there and was very involved in women’s missionary groups. Laurine was a prayer warrior to the max, constantly holding family and more before the Lord in prayer.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the people of Linden Estates who have made these last years for Laurine so nice.

Laurine is survived by her children, Larry (Margret) Thompson of Marion, Iowa, Sandra Musser of Kenneth City, Fla., Steven (Vicki) Thompson of Norwood, Mo., and Robert (Sally) Thompson of North Platte; grandchildren, Randy (Melva) Northey of Hershey, Troy (Patricia) Musser of Seminole, Fla., Mark (Tami) Thompson of Marion, Kurt (Lorie) Thompson of Lakeville, Minn., Josselyn (John) Smith of Le Claire, Iowa, and John (Staci) Thompson of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and other family.
