North Platte St. Pat’s has hired Maddy Krebs as their new volleyball coach.

Krebs will be coaching the program she came up from. as she graduated from St. Pat’s in 2008.

“I’m thrilled to be back at my alma-mater,” said Krebs. “I love this school so much.”

In her senior year, Krebs helped the Lady Irish win the South Platte Valley Association championship as they defeated Hershey in a five-set thriller on their home-court at the McGahan Activities Center.

Krebs then went on to play at North Platte Community College. In her sophomore year, she helped the Lady Knights qualify for the NJCAA tournament in her sophomore year.

Krebs finished her playing career at Peru State College.

Since college, Krebs has coached club volleyball with teams ranging in age from 9 to 17.

Krebs will be the third volleyball coach in three years for St. Pat’s. Shelly Byrn, who Krebs played for at St. Pat’s, left last year for Ogallala.

Janet Victory coached the Irish in 2019, leading them to an 18-13 record.

North Platte Catholic School superintendent Kevin Dodson said the volleyball program should be in good hands because it means so much to Krebs.

“Maddy’s experience and enthusiasm will bring a lot to our volleyball program,” he said. “It’s always exciting to have an alum return to our school on a professional level. It’s humbling to know that they hold their alma mater with such pride.”
