Karen Mahoney of North Platte passed away at Great Plains Health on May 3, 2025 at age 79.

Karen was born April 4, 1946, to Samuel Brush and Maetta Nichols at Maywood, NE. She grew up in Maywood and later moved to North Platte.

On April 12, 1975, Karen married Robert Mahoney at Hutchinson and they settled in North Platte in 1985. Robert unexpectedly passed away in 1991.

She enjoyed the company of her family and loved her animals. Karen will be remembered as a gifted cook, as well as a kind and good person who was very accepting of others.

Karen was also preceded in death by her father, Samuel Brush; mother and stepfather, Maetta and Edward Anthens; brother, John Anthens; and aunt, Elizabeth Blaylock.

She is survived by her aunt, Linda Johnson, uncle, Ronald Johnson (Judy), cousins including Tiffany Ross and Tammy Barns (Tom), all of North Platte; and many extended family members.
