The North Platte Public Schools announced Friday afternoon that Brett Joneson will be the new activities director, following the unforeseen resignation of Jimmie Rhodes.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Joneson step into the role of NPHS Activities Director.  Mr. Joneson is a committed administrator that brings a wealth of knowledge to this position,” Supt. Todd Rhodes said.

Joneson is currently assistant principal and activities director at Adams Middle School.

He graduated from Brady High School in 1987 and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from UNK in 1992. I holds a master’s degree in administration from UNK in 2001. He has been a teacher, coach and administrator for North Platte Public Schools for 20 years.

Joneson taught ninth grade social studies and world history at North Platte High for 14 years, and also coached sophomore and varsity football. He became a middle school administrator in 2012 in. He initiated interscholastic sports in the middle schools, and expanded other activities as well, according to information on the North Platte school district website.
