Johnathan Navarrete was born July 18, 1990 to Johnny and Deborah (Archuletta) Navarrete in North Platte, NE. He passed away June 28, 2026 departing this world with his wife, Ashley, at their home in North Platte at the age of 35.

Johnathan attended North Platte Schools from elementary through high school, graduating from North Platte High School with the class of 2009. He attended South East Community College in Milford, NE taking computer programming classes.

From a very young age, he was very technically inclined and enjoyed working on computers and other electronic equipment. Throughout his life, he continued to have a fascination and love for technology and was always keeping up with the newest trends. If someone needed help with their devices, he was the person that friends and family turned to. He also enjoyed cheering for his favorite football teams, the Denver Broncos and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Johnathan was a very easy-going, laid-back young man. He had a quick wit about him and could make anyone smile or laugh. He was very kind and polite to everyone, especially his family. He was never judgmental of anyone and he believed that everyone should live life on their own terms. He was all to aware of the one obstacle in his life he simply could not overcome. He will be remembered for his thoughtful and carefree spirit. Gone to soon, he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.

Johnathan worked various jobs, including a clerk in a local convenience store and he recently secured employment at Sustainable Beef.

Johnathan married Ashley Hornelas on 09/09/2019. They first met in high school and reunited years later. Johnathan had an unconditional love for Ashley. They had a strong bond and they enjoyed listening to music and watching movies together.

Johnathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse and Aranda Navarrete and Johnnie and Josephine Archuletta; brother, Cosmo Contreras Jr.; uncles, Jesse Navarrete, Jose Navarrete, and Pete “PeeWee” Navarrete; aunts, Nellie “Chita” (Manuel) Serrano, Angel Martinez, and Billie Navarrete.

He is survived by parents, Johnny and Deborah; aunts and uncles, Richard (Alice) Navarrete, Eddy Navarrete, Freddy (Stacy) Navarrete, Bobby Alvarado, Hilda Navarrete, Mary Ellen “Lena” Navarrete, Rosalee “Lea” Anthens, Linda Navarrete, Annie Brown, Elvira (Manuel) Garza, Phillip (Betty) Archuletta, Rick (Rita) Archuletta. Many cousins, other family members, and friends.

Family led services was held on Tuesday, July 7 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Kadaprayil as celebrant.

Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
