Jimm Ray Fox, 69, of North Platte, passed away January 28, 2025 at Great Plains Health. He was born August 21, 1955 to James and Gaythel (Hunt) Fox in Ainsworth.

Jimm passed away on January 28, 2025 at his home town in North Platte, Nebraska. After having 2 heart attacks. With everything that he has seen in his life this is where he decided to call home.

Jimm Ray Fox, born August 21, 1955 in Ainsworth, Brown County, Nebraska to James Amos and Gaythel Helen (Hunt) Fox even the parents had a sense of humor and decided to have a Fox Hunt. Jimm was the youngest of four.

He left behind his Angel Cora Lee (Tomlinson) Fox North Platte, Nebraska they were married on May 9, 1992 in Hershey, Nebraska; his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many other children they cared for over the years; his sisters Virginia Oman of Norfolk, Nebraska, Genevieve Jo Mizner of Kearney, Nebraska; his brother Raymond Fox of Brewster, Nebraska. They all grew up on a ranch north of Brewster, Nebraska. Jim is survived by many other family members and friends.

Jimm grew up on the family ranch with his two sisters and brother. He learned to ride a horse as a baby and by the age of four years old, he went on a cattle drive from the west place to the home place, a distance of 9 miles. He did 4H for 10 years and his love of horses continued his whole life. Jimm was a man of many talents. The gift of gab, helping friends and family, making people laugh, or giving a listening ear and words of advice. He never met a stranger and has helped many of us. Whether it was getting the truck and trailer to move, fixing things around the house, or giving directions. There are many of us who frequently called him the walking atlas. He could tell you “go right and you will see this on the right and that on the left” in most every state. Jimm had 69 years of story to tell. He was a traveling man, be it on the horse, motorcycle, semi, or the pickup. He loved to travel so much that he became a truck driver and reached a million miles accident free with Crete Carrier. It was in his travels that he met his angel Cora and they got married and combined their kids. Jimm was a unique man and shared his light with so many. So much so that there are more people than we can count who called him dad, brother, uncle, grandpa and friend. Estimated 11 kids, 23 grandkids, and 3 great grandkids… So we aren’t going to try and list everyone and as Jimm would say “that is one way to do it”. Jimm believed in family and the good lord. Being honest and admitting when you are wrong. He was ornery to the point that he would usually start a conversation by picking on someone, and if the person found it uncomfortable, he would end the conversation with “Well at least one of us found it funny!”. He was ornery as ever and with a twinkle in his eye could be heard saying “I would never, not once” as he pulled some pig tails, or someone’s leg hair. Give some of us the good old one finger hello; or some other mischief he could think up and he was always thinking it up. We could write a book about all the things he did and people he shined his light on. He was a true light for so many and he is headed to heaven to pick on all those who went before him. So, in true Jimm fashion we are going to sign off, because as he would say “I need a nap”.
