The North Platte Concert Association will present the Jersey Tenors performing a wide variety of music at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, downtown in the Fox Theatre, 301 E. Fifth.
The Jersey Tenors are “a rock/opera mash-up sensation that creates an explosive blend of the most popular opera classics alongside such rock ’n roll greats as Queen, Journey, Elton John and Billy Joel,” according to advance publicity.
Also, they are “Jersey Proud” and highlight some of Jersey’s finest music, including Frankie Valli, Frank Sinatra, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Kool and the Gang, and even Whitney Houston.
All of the members of the quartet are classically trained, and all of them have Broadway credits.
The leader, Brian Noonan, spent 17 years performing in shows such as “Les Miserables,” “Phantom of the Opera” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Noonan and Cameron Johnson lead the operatic selections, while Vaden Thurgood and Danny Calvert bring rock ‘n roll talent to the performances.
The Jersey Tenors grew out of a Frankie Valli tribute band and the Unexpected Surfer Boys, who performed in a successful 38-concert tour in 2013-14.
A reviewer in Broadway World wrote, “The Jersey Tenors will have you singing along as they raise the roof with their powerful voices.”
Dr. Chris and Julie Johng are sponsoring the concert.
Two more concerts in the 2018-19 series will feature the Omaha Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, March 19 at the North Platte High School Performing Arts Center, and Doo-Wah Riders, a country and western band, on Sunday, April 7 downtown at the Fox Theatre.
Admission is by season membership in the North Platte Concert Association. Memberships may be purchased by contacting Pat Hoban, secretary, 1412 W. Fourth (308-534-4699).
