Welcome to George Orwell’s 1984 in North Platte, Nebraska. Our First Amendment right to privacy is under attack. And we are silent.

Flock cameras, at least 29 of them, are scattered around our great city. Invading our privacy and tracking us daily.

Now, the police and authorities will tell you its for your own safety. But the truth is far from this. They will tell you they are only on major highways. That is a lie also. They are even in neighborhoods, watching you and me. They want you to believe they are license plate readers. But no. They are much more. They are in your car, in your neighborhoods and maybe even watching your home, gathering information.

They want you to believe the information stays in North Platte or Lincoln County. Or maybe even in Nebraska.  But the truth is it goes far above us. It is Orwellian in nature, and if that does not scare you, it should.

When we think about our elected officials, remember, they authorized this. They know about this. They approve of this. They will tell you it is for your safety and that it has proven its value.

But are you willing to give up your privacy for anything? Do you even know where they are? Hopefully the map can be read.

I for one want my privacy.
