Regarding “flock” cameras, or as I call them, license plate readers, there are reasons for concern. Big Brother can follow your car all across this country. If you happen to drive to Denver for a weekend getaway, they will see your license plate on the readers.
If you appear to have made more than one trip to Denver, that may raise suspicions. Even though you may have relatives you are visiting or work you are doing, the readers flag you for making trips to a “source state.” These are not at all random.
I had officers testify in a hearing that they go through the information prior to their shift to see if there are any “red flags.” Red flags being a license plate being in read in Denver or source state with a short turn-around coming back to Nebraska.
I know of one case where a car was tracked from the East Coast to Denver, then returning back through Nebraska. So a lot of these cars are being pulled over and searched in Lincoln County, Nebraska. It would seem a car driving across country would commit a traffic violation before it reaches the Midwest.
This is more than just protecting the public. This is spying, profiling and government intrusion on its citizens. We are better than this.

Bob hit the target with his comments. Law enforcement will only talk about the “benefits” such as finding stolen vehicles, missing and endangered individuals, but it goes farther than that. Flock users can knit together pieces from your travels and surmise your affiliations and driving habits, where you live, worship, doctor appointments, political rallies or protests. These devices have no place in our community, especially they should not be located in 1-residential areas (that’s just plain spying), 2-near schools, 3-hospitals-clinics, 4-houses of worship. Stay alert. I will drive out of my way to avoid these spies. But I realize weighing community safety against community perceptions and security need to be balanced
With Flock Camera Networks, in conjunction with AI’s capabilities to detect patterns, everyone is a suspect. Suspected to be “less than innocent” of “stepping out of line” either today or eventually; you’re a suspect; I’m suspect; we’re all suspects now — even when we’re not within the view of the lens.
If Flock Cameras can be misused, they will be. And there are.

There have also been a lot of cases that have come to light where not only law enforcement officers, but anyone who has access to those cameras use them to track and stalk significant others or even persons that have current restraining orders against them. As it was stated…any way they CAN be misused they WILL be.
Go figure….an article from investigate TV that says there have been over 70 cases from around the country where officers, deputies and employees of law enforcement agencies have been put on leave, fired, arrested and even convicted of misusing the Flock system — including cases of stalking and harassment. The more cameras there are the worse it’s gonna be.
