Harold Edward Sonneman, 92, of North Platte passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Linden Court.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1930 in North Platte, the son of Edward and Gladys (Neal) Sonneman.
Harold graduated from North Platte High School and was hired by the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring after more than 30 years of service. He also worked as a real estate broker for several years. He was united in marriage to June French in 1950 in Julesburg, Colo., and to this union three children were born.
Harold and June enjoyed spending time together collecting antiques and dolls. He was an accomplished artist and woodcarver and was especially known for his full-sized wood carving of carousel horses.
Harold is survived by his children, Faith Kay (Don) Jensen of Lincoln, Steve Neal Sonneman of Witchita, Kan. and Connie Jodell (Jerome) Kramer of Stapleton; grandchildren, Cory (Genny) McNeel, Brandi (Henry) Obermeier, Neal Sonneman, Cindy (Sonneman), Kandi Eltiste, Kim (Bob) Payne, Kurt (Melissa) Jensen; many great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; granddaughter, Emily Sonneman; grandson, Michael McNeel; and great grandson, Wesley Jensen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with arrangements. Burial will follow at Miriam Cemetery southeast of North Platte. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
