Harlan Lee Herrick, 77, of North Platte passed away on April 1, 2026.

Harlan was born in Curtis, Nebraska, on November 11, 1948, to Harlan and Shirley Herrick. He grew up and attended school in North Platte, where he remained throughout his life.

Harlan worked for many years at Sixth Street Grocery Store and later with the North Platte School District. He was known for his kind heart, steady presence, and the friendships he formed through his work and community.

He enjoyed listening to country music, cheering on the Nebraska Huskers, and following the Dallas Cowboys. His simple pleasures and loyal spirit were well known to all who loved him.

Harlan was one of eight siblings. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Deb Bostwick and Lori Dougherty.

He is survived by his siblings; Donna (Mike) Coleman, Randy Herrick, Sharon (David) Christensen, Cindy (Perry) Hall, and Daniel (Jacque) Herrick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

The Lord welcomed Harlan home on his mother’s birthday—a day made even more meaningful by his passing. Above all else, Harlan ensured that he carried Jesus in his heart.

Funeral services were held at Odean Colonial Chapel on Tuesday, April 7. Burial followed at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
