Six candidates for Nebraska governor are expected on Thursday, Jan. 20 for a candidate forum at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds, organized by the Lincoln County Cattlemen.
The gubernatorial candidates will answer questions from 5:30-7 p.m. from a panel of North Platte news media. The public is invited to attend.
Later, three candidates for the Legislature and two candidates for the Nebraska school board will answer questions.
The candidates for governor who are committed to attend are Carol Blood, Michael Connelly, Charles Herbster, Brett Lindstrom, Breland Ridenour and Theresa Thibodeau, organizer Levi Fisher said.
Members of the audience can submit written questions to the moderators. The candidates will not be allowed to have notes with them. The forum is also expected to be broadcast live on Facebook.
The media panel will represent newspaper, television and radio — George Lauby of the Bulletin, Kent Winder of KNOP and Tristen Winder of Husker Radio.
A second forum will start at 7:30 p.m. for the candidates for the District 42 seat in the Legislature. Chris Bruns, Brenda Fourtner and Mel McNea have announced their intention to run and plan to be at the forum.
Also, incumbent Robin Stevens of Gothenburg and challenger Elizabeth Tegtmeier of North Platte will field questions as they campaign for the seat on the Nebraska school board to represent western Nebraska.
The forum is expected to end around 8:30 p.m. Tea and water will be available.
The fairgrounds is located at 5015 W. Rodeo Road in North Platte. The forum will be in the Ag Activities building, the first building after entering the grounds.
