The North Platte High girls’ golf team claimed the district title Monday at Lake Maloney Golf Course, earning a berth in the state tournament for the second straight year.

NPHS turned in a score of 322 to run away with the championship. Omaha Marian finished second at 356, and also qualified for the state meet.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Baylee Steele and Karsen Morrison, who both had the top score at 74. Steele defeated her teammate in a playoff to claim first place.

Maya Lashley was fourth with an 83 and Maggie Lashley ninth with a 91 to round out the scoring.

Abbie Jones, the fifth North Platte golfer, had a score of 102.

The Bulldogs will move on to the state meet, which will be played on Oct. 14-15 in Norfolk.

Last year at state, NPHS finished second to Lincoln Southwest. Only one round was played due to rain.

Steele and the Lashleys return from that team. Morrison, a talented freshman, will be making her debut at state.
