George William ‘Bill’ Smith, 91

George William “Bill” Smith, 91, passed away at Great Plains Health on March 1, 2026.

Bill was born Nov. 15, 1934 to Joe W. and Myrtle (Eddins) Smith. He was raised in North Platte, graduating from North Platte Senior High in 1952.

Bill married Twila Wilson on Feb. 14, 1954. They farmed in the Platte Valley community for 54 years. Twila preceded in death on Aug. 11, 2001.

On Oct. 21, 2002, Bill married Elaine and they were happily married until her passing on March 20, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother; Betty Smith, four brothers; LeRoy, Dayton, Ray and Scott Smith, step-brother; Ronald J. Rains, sister; Bonnie Jo Leonhardt and sons; Michael and Monte Smith. Bill is survived by his son; Terry (Lynda) Smith, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends who will dearly miss him.

Carpenter Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
