The price of gas jumped 30-40 cents per gallon overnight at some North Platte stations, breaking through the $4 barrier, and then some, approaching four-year highs.
GasBuddy.com reports that North Platte gas prices averaged $4.29 per gallon on Tuesday afternoon, the same price as the state average on the same day.
However, prices at some stations were less. Fat Dogs at 1313 S. Dewey St. advertised a price of 4.17 a gallon Tuesday afternoon, with a 20-cent discount for cash. The price was $4.05 a gallon at Love’s and Flying J at Exit 179.

The AAA Auto Club said the highest recorded price in North Platte for regular unleaded was $4.82 a gallon in July 2022. AAA generally attributes the latest increase to foreign military conflicts. There are reports of troubles at U.S. refineries too.
According to Gas Buddy, the price hit $4.39 a gallon at Casey’s convenience stores Tuesday afternoon. The previous day, gas could be purchased around town for $3.98 per gallon.
